Yunnan Wild Rose Buds*
Other name: Mei Gui
We tend to think of rose in terms of an old French or English garden, but rose, like tea, is native to Asia and only later became imported to the West. Our rose buds are wild-grown in the mountains of Wenshan prefecture in Yunnan. They are hand-picked and sun-dried briefly so they can retain their floral essence.
Rose buds have been prescribed as part of Chinese medicine for more than 5,000 years. Many benefits are recorded, including easing depression, soothing the nerves, helping with digestion and a tonic for the blood. Each bud is also loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants, which may help your immune system by fighting and killing various bacteria and infections.
Infused alone or mixed with shou (ripe) pu'erh, black or oolong tea, these delicate buds will add a enticing rose aroma and delicate taste to your personal blends.
Note: Rose buds make an aromatic addition to kombucha (second ferment).
Sweet and floral.
