Phoenix "Duck Shit" Oolong* | Two left!

Sale $32.00 $16.00

"Duck Shit" (Ya Shi Xiang) is part of the revered Golden Phoenix family of teas that come from Phoenix Mountain in the Guangdong Province of China. Classically, teas from that mountain are plucked from a single grove or bush, producing hyper-local characteristics.
Rumour has it that the farmer behind Duck Shit (which doesn't truly smell or taste like duck shit) didn't want anybody to discover the secret to his cultivation so he told outsiders that the uniqueness was due to copious amounts of duck shit that coloured the soil and it stuck.
The tea bushes from which our Duck Shit tea originate are more than 80-years old and grow naturally. The tea itself is lightly oxidised and the leaves are black-green in colour. The brewed tea is highly aromatic and has a lasting sweetness in the mouth. Like many quality Dan Cong oolongs, the leaves can be infused many times!
Only 9 kilograms of this tea was produced. This is an extremely rare find!

Additional information: In Chinese, the Phoenix Dan Cong Oolong is also known as Feng Huang Dan Cong Oolong. Feng Huang means Phoenix in Chinese. The term Dan Cong refers to an individual tea tree grown independently in the wild which is different from the garden tea. In an ordinary tea garden, the tea is planted in columns and the trees are pruned regularly in order to maintain the desired height, shape and size. The "Dan" means single and the "Cong" means bush or tree in English. Leaves are plucked from the tree by indigenous people using tall ladders.
