Phoenix "Orchid Aroma" Oolong* | Low Stock!
Full name: Phoenix Orchid Aroma (Zhi Lan Xiang) Dan Cong Oolong
Phoenix Orchid Aroma Oolong from Guangdong Province in China is made using the traditional method of tea production. Tender leaves are harvested using ladders from tall single trunk (Dan Cong) trees, then lightly oxidised over the 18-24 hour period, preserving the unique aromatics of the tea leaves.
This exceptional oolong tea is comprised of long, twisted deep greenish-black leaves with a tart, flowery aroma. When infused, it produces a beautifully clear light amber liquor marked by vividly flowery/fruity and woody-sweet flavours against a mild but assertive bittersweet background and a lingering orchidy-floral aftertaste.
This tea can be infused repeatedly but keep the infusion times short at first to allow successive brews to release its special depth of flavour.
Sweet and intense flavour reminiscent of ripe fruits with an aromatic wood overtone and lingering orchid note.
*Wild-grown / Pesticide-free
Additional information: In Chinese, the Phoenix Dan Cong Oolong is also known as Feng Huang Dan Cong Oolong. Feng Huang means Phoenix in Chinese. The term Dan Cong refers to an individual tea tree grown independently in the wild which is different from the garden tea. In an ordinary tea garden, the tea is planted in columns and the trees are pruned regularly in order to maintain the desired height, shape and size. The "Dan" means single and the "Cong" means bush or tree in English. Leaves are plucked from the tree by indigenous people using tall ladders.
